The state of West Virginia, through the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (WV HEPC), has agreements with Mississippi State University and Virginia-Maryland Colleges of Veterinary Medicine. West Virginia residents applying to veterinary medicine programs at these institutions can compete for contract seats. To participate in this program, West Virginia residents must provide proof of residency in the state for at least 5 years. All West Virginia residents are eligible to apply, regardless of undergraduate institution location.
Important: This application is specifically for the West Virginia Veterinary Medicine: Tuition Contract Program (WV VMTCP) and is separate from the general application to veterinary school. In addition to submitting this WV VMTCP application, you must complete a separate application through the Veterinary Medicine Central Application Service (VMCAS) for admission to veterinary school, including for applicants seeking a West Virginia contract seat at Mississippi State University or the Virginia-Maryland Colleges of Veterinary Medicine.
For detailed information and to apply through VMCAS, visit the official website here. The VMCAS application deadline is typically September 15 each year.
Please ensure that your completed WV Veterinary Medicine: Tuition Contract Program application is submitted by September 15 of the year you plan to apply to veterinary school. The West Virginia University Admissions and Records Office will verify residency or confirm your status as a dependent of a resident.
